Our mission is to serve as a true pipeline for athletes seeking to advance to the WNBA, Athletes Unlimited, and other top-tier professional leagues around the world.


2. How is the WPBA different from other leagues?

WPBA is intentionally structured as a comprehensive development platform designed to prepare athletes for advancement to the highest levels of the gameWe combine elite competition with professional standards and global alignment to create structured pathways to the global professional landscape.Our model emphasizes long-term career growth both on and off the court, developing athletes through a holistic approach that prioritizes health and wellness, financial literacy, and professional development alongside high-level performance.


3. Is the WPBA sanctioned?

Yes. The WPBA is sanctioned by FIBA, allowing athletes to maintain international eligibility and compete within the global professional basketball ecosystem. This sanctioning ensures players can seamlessly pursue opportunities worldwide.


4. How many teams are in the WPBA?

The WPBA consists of 8 teams, with 12 players per roster. This structure ensures high-level competition while creating meaningful development opportunities for each athlete.


5. Who is eligible to play in the WPBA?

Eligible athletes include:

  • Graduating seniors

  • Former collegiate players

  • Current and former professional players

  • National team athletes

All players must meet league eligibility and professional standards. Final roster decisions are based on competitive readiness and alignment with league standards.


6. How do players join the WPBA?

Players may:

  • Submit for consideration for the WPBA Combine

  • Receive a direct invitation

  • Be scouted through league-approved evaluation channels

Selection is based on performance, fit, and readiness for elite competition. All athletes are evaluated through a structured and professional scouting process.


7. Are WPBA athletes, coaches, and officials compensated?

Yes. WPBA athletes, coaches, and officials are compensated in alignment with league standards and contractual agreements. Our compensation model is designed to support professional development while maintaining long-term league sustainability.

8. What is the WPBA Combine?

The WPBA Combine is our premier evaluation event, where top athletes compete in front of coaches, executives, and global basketball stakeholders. It serves as a gateway to league contracts and international placement opportunities. The Combine is designed to mirror professional-level expectations, offering athletes exposure, performance evaluation, and direct access to decision-makers. 


9. How long is the WPBA season?

The WPBA season runs from June through August, aligning with the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) calendar to maximize visibility and competitive relevance.

In the WPBA offseason, selected athletes have opportunities to compete in FIBA tournaments, including the FIBA WBLA (Women’s Basketball League Americas), further expanding global exposure and professional placement opportunities.

Our model is intentionally structured to maximize year-round development, exposure, and advancement for our athletes. WPBA operates with a global lens, ensuring players remain active, competitive, and visible beyond the summer season.


10. Has the WPBA successfully advanced players?

Yes. Over the past four seasons, the WPBA has helped more than 100 athletes advance their professional careers domestically and internationally. Our track record reflects our commitment to measurable outcomes and real career progression.


11. Where is the WPBA based?

The WPBA was founded in the San Francisco Bay Area and continues to expand its national and international footprint through strategic partnerships and marquee events. While rooted in the Bay Area, WPBA’s impact and player placement extend across the United States and globally.
