WPBA to Host 2026 Tryouts Continuing to expand pathways to professional women’s basketball
HAYWARD, CA — The Women’s Premier Basketball Association (WPBA) will host its 2026 tryouts, providing elite women’s basketball players with an opportunity to compete for roster spots and continue their professional careers within one of the sport’s fastest-growing leagues.
Building on the momentum of its inaugural WPBA Combine held during NCAA Final Four weekend, the league continues to address a critical gap in the pathway to professional women’s basketball by creating additional access points for high-level talent.
“Tryouts are an extension of our mission to create real opportunities for players,” said Faatimah A, Founder and CEO of the WPBA. “There is an incredible amount of talent that deserves a chance to be seen, evaluated, and developed at the professional level.”
Founded in 2022, the WPBA has quickly emerged as a viable pathway for athletes pursuing careers beyond traditional draft routes. As the landscape of women’s basketball continues to grow—with WNBA expansion and increasing global demand for talent—the need for additional platforms remains essential. The WPBA is actively building the infrastructure to meet that need by identifying and elevating pro-ready athletes.
The 2026 tryouts will feature a competitive pool of players from top collegiate programs, international leagues, and emerging talent circuits. Participants will be evaluated by WPBA coaches and basketball professionals through structured drills, skill development, and live gameplay.
The 2026 WPBA season is set to begin on June 6, offering selected athletes the opportunity to transition directly into competition.
